Mom -- Gretchen Carraway
My mom is 27 years old* and still weighs the exact same amount as the day she graduated high school.** She graduated from beauty school in just under 25 years, but never worked while my brother and I were at home. Now that we're gone she has way too much time on her hands, so she rearranges the furniture a lot and even once cut the frills off of her pillows. She is now spending her time working two days a week with me at Allen-Duncan Agencies. No, we haven't killed each other quite yet. She has lived in Titusville for almost 40 years and seems to know absolutely everything that happens in that town. She is an expert scorekeeper in baseball and has a tendency to go kind of crazy in hotel rooms sometimes uncontrollably singing, "I'm a soul man."*information might be slightly inaccurate
**information is a complete and total lie
My dad is 51 and I can tell you that because he doesn't care. He's a fire protection engineer and has worked at Kennedy Space Center, which everybody that isn't retired in Titusville works for, for over 20 years. He's really quiet but my mom more than makes up for his lack of talking. They have been married for 28 years and are still a couple of wild and crazy kids. They party frequently and drink heavily.* He was always my third base coach in little league and holds the record for getting runners thrown out at home plate in a career. He likes watching sports (this does not include basketball and soccer) especially baseball and NASCAR in which he roots exclusively for Jeff Gordon and the LA Dodgers**. He also loves listening to my mom play her song on the piano and is still upset that Winnie Cooper and Kevin Arnold didn't end up married in the last episode of the Wonder Years (so am I). His heroes include Navan R. Johnson (The Jerk), Al Bundy (Married with Children), and the balloon dogs in Killer Clowns from Outer Space. Dad -- Doug Carraway
*information might be slightly exaggerated
**take the words "roots exclusively for" and change to "hates".
Brother -- Scott Carraway
BEST MAN Scott is three years older than me which means he is 27. He is the manager at a Sav-a-Lot store in Orlando, FL. He is always working and when he's not working he's hoping that work isn't going to call him to come in to work. He is an excellent bowler and owns three 300 rings, which he rubs in my face at every opportunity, to prove it. Every so often he enjoys borrowing my car, falling asleep at the wheel, and driving into the woods. We think that Jimmy Hoffa's body might be somewhere in the backseat of his truck as we have already found the holy grail and Scott's Christmas presents from the last 4 years buried back there. His love for baseball almost equals my own and he bleeds Clemson Tiger orange. He is the funniest person I know (behind myself of course) and somehow managed to get his high school diploma without attending 3rd period his Senior year. Some of the best times of my life have been just sitting around and making people laugh with Scott.
Grandma1 -- Celeste Carraway
Grandma1 (my dad's mom) was born the same year that the New York Yankees made Murderer's Row famous. She is the sweetest little southern lady you could ever meet. She lived in Titusville until 1986 and then moved back to South Carolina, which is where she was born, with my grandpa. She has lived there ever since and has one dog that she spoils rotten and loves to work in her garden. She has farming at her roots and still helps my uncles (her brothers) with their farming. We see her about 2 times a year and she insists on paying for everything because she says an old person doesn't need money for anything. She makes the best sweet tea and vegetable soup in the world and sometimes if she's really upset has been known to chase hunters out of her woods even though they had big guns.
Grandpa1 -- Arthur Carraway
Grandpa1 (my dad's dad) was born the same year as my grandma1. He worked at Kennedy Space Center until he retired. He graduated from Clemson University which is where my brother got his love of them from. He passed away in 1990, but every time I watch Clemson play a football game I can't help but think about him getting up and turning the TV off each time they started losing and then 5 minutes later turning it back on. I miss him a lot.Grandma2 -- Marguerite Brown
Grandma2 (my mom's mom) was born the year the "Black" Sox were thrown out of baseball for losing the World Series on purpose. She worked as a teacher and a librarian until she retired some time ago. Now she spends most of her time playing bridge and going out to lunch with her friends. She loves to wear hats of all kinds and has quite a collection. Her favorite thing to do is check to see if people have the trademarked Adams thumb.
Grandpa2 (my mom's dad) was born 20 years after the American League came into existence. He was the fire chief of Titusville for a long time until he retired and then he served on the city council. He was a huge Miami Dolphins fan which is where I get my love for them. He use to take Scott and me to the mall and give us each a silver dollar. He always wore a suit and tie no matter what the weather was like and he had been known to go out with one car and come home with another one on the spur of the moment. He passed away in 1991, but it's very rare that a day goes by that something doesn't remind me of him. I miss him very much. Grandpa2 -- Jim Brown
Dana is 9 months younger than me in age, which means that she is just slightly over five years older than me in maturity.. We have been dating since Senior year of high school. I first met her in 8th grade when she slapped me across the face for some reason that I can't remember. Then, Sophomore year in English and German class I use to give her massages and our relationship grew from there. Actually, we were friends for two years until she could no longer resist my charming personality and she realized that I'm perfect in every way. She graduated from Lagrange College in 2000 with her degree in Elementary Education. Now, she is a 2nd grade teacher at South Lake Elementary school in Titusville and she loves her job even though she tells me that she quits at least once every night. We got engaged on February 14th, 2002 and if you want to hear the romantic story of how it happened, see my article about it. I have never met anyone as beautiful as her and I love snuggling with her on Sunday afternoons or serenading her late into the night w/ Jeremy & Tim's help. Sometimes she likes to tell me to turn down the wrong way of one way streets in Orlando, but those kind of mistakes could happen to anyone. If you ever really want to get her upset, all you have to do is mention one simple name to her . . . Jennifer Pickens. She hates it.. Occassionally she invents new dances for me and everybody at the bowling alley loves the fact that she jumps up and down smiling every time she throws a strike (It's quite possibly the cutest thing in the world). She's really cute and drives a beautiful brand new sport utility vehicle.* She has been known at times to be a little freaky, but she makes up for it in beauty. She loves cheese and hot dogs and candles, but most importantly she loves me. Fiance -- Dana Camp
*she wishes
Mary is the same age as my mother which stated earlier is 27. She now works at a church day care center and loves all of the children there dearly.* She is one of the most caring people I have ever known in my life. She loves her children dearly even though most of the time she doesn't claim any of them. She and I have always had a wonderful relationship and I think of her as a second mother. When I first met her, she liked me more than Dana did. She is so easy to talk to, some nights I use to sit up talking to her until 5 in the morning. I think one of her goals in life is to break the record for the most time spent in Wal-Mart in the month of December. She is still training to become the next Mrs. America and I think she's got a good shot at winning next year. In the last few years, she has become quite the slacker with her kids, but we all know that Angela is her favorite. Mary (Dana's mom)
*this statement could not be proved in a court of law.
Robert (Dana's brother)
GROOMSMAN Robert is 26 years old and I met him at the little league when I went up there to see Dana. He was very protective of his little sister at first but eventually warmed up to me and we got along great (mainly because I was kind of a dork, so he could trust me). We started going fishing together and since then we have grown into good friends. I've always enjoyed watching baseball games with him because we both are usually better coaches than anybody we've seen on the field. We played Stan Musial (semi-pro) baseball together in the summer of '96 and we had a blast. We went to Bradenton, FL for the state tournament and room 210 was our favorite. We've been known to stay up until 6:00 in the morning testing each other on how many Major League Baseball teams we can name.
Beth (Dana's sister)
BRIDESMAID Otherwise known as Bef, she is 21 years old and has gone from being my enemy to one of my best friends. She is currently pregnant with her first child, but she hasn't had any mood swings to speak of.* For the first year I knew her, we both hated each other. Then, the summer before my Senior year, we both got to know each other and realized we didn't hate each other anymore. Ever since then we have grown closer and closer. I have a lot of great memories with her. At times she enjoys making up her own words such as yachet or suspific. She also likes making triangles out of stars instead of listening to people talk. She enjoys having other people tell her what she's thinking and feeling, she's never seen without a smile on her face, she loves going to Epcot, she always beats me when we play pool, and she never batted .141 her junior year in softball.** She can inhale an entire meal and 3 drinks in about 3.7 seconds. She has also been known to shoot coke out of her nose at Burger King. Recently because of Jeremy she has been transformed into a girl, but I still love her to death.
*Okay maybe one or two . . . per hour that is.
**this is entire sentence is filled with crap.
Jeremy House
Jeremy gets his own separate section from Beth only because he and I have become so close over the last couple of years. He is of course, Beth's husband and father of her soon to be born child. He is 24 years old, which to you geniuses out there would make him mine and Dana's age, not Beths. This never caused much of a problem however since fortuneately his mentality is the same age as mine and Robert's which is 12. He is a firefighter in Deland where he and Beth live which makes him completely different than me in the fact that he has some direction in his life. However, it does suck because I don't get to see him near as often as I would like to. He (and I) has been known to strip down and jump in pools at Angel's house in the middle of the night. He also has been known to ask Chris Gianotta to kiss him for no reason at all and to lose his concentration when people yell at him through bedroom doors. I didn't like him dating Beth at first, but now I don't think she deserves him!! He's a great guy and a great friend and we are all lucky to have him in our lives. He's a great singing partner to serenade the ladies with, and in short, I only have one word for him, "RABBIT!!". Groomsman
Angela -- (Dana's sister)
BRIDESMAID Angela is 19 years old and a Freshman at Brevard Community College where she plays softball. She also didn't like me when I first met her, although I had no idea about that until this year. I have had the pleasure of watching her grow into a beautiful young lady. A year ago I would have said that she was the nicest girl in the world but recently she's been a little bit testy. This is mainly due to the fact that she has no self confidence and worries about things that she shouldn't. She has to be the most selfless person in the world and is without a doubt her mother's favorite. She is an excellent artist and just won first place in an art show. When she's embarrassed, she has been known to gnaw the shoulder of the nearest person off. She has also been known to make approximately 63,500 bracelets for us all when she's sick. If I had a nickel for every time that she's said, "I'm hungry," I would be a rich man. For the last year she has been dating Garry Amos (who is still a Junior in high school, not that there's anything wrong with that)* and I just thought I'd put that in here, because I'm sure if I asked Angela she would say, "That would be nice."
*except for the fact that it's freaking weird.
Timmy -- (Dana's brother)
GROOMSMAN Timmy is 16 years old and is in tenth grade. Right now he is at that age when every ten minutes you want to kill him, but we all went through that. He plays little league baseball and he is the reason that Robert and I coach. He has been known to mumble--a lot about anything that upsets him, which at 16 is basically everything. He's the youngest, so of course he thinks that everybody else picks on him and gets to do things that he can't and he's right. He has been dating Kinsey Carlson for over a year now, and I won't mention that he's a Sophomore and she's a Senior, because it's kind of a touchy subject.*
*oops!!
Tim Wood
BEST MAN Tim is my age, well actually he's eight days older than me. He has been my best friend for the last 8 years. I met him through a girl that he was dating in high school and we've always just clicked together. He moved out to Colorado a couple of years ago to get his education so I only get to see him about once a year. However, when we are together we just pick right back where we left off and it seems like he was never gone. He likes guns and knives and shooting things and that's why he wants to become a police officer. We are complete opposites on the outside, but exactly the same on the inside. We worked at McDonald's together for awhile and were known to sit in the parking lot after shifts and talk for hours on end. He gets serious road rage when he's driving and has even gotten out of his car to help me beat up an innocent tree. He knows that if you don't know the answer to a question, "It all dates back to teenage love." He also has a tendency to buy very expensive things and then not use them. He spends an average of $22,000 a year on candy and eats sugar right out of the packets. Although he wasn't with me at the Garth Brooks concert (Ha Ha) he's been with me through everything the past seven years and he's always there for me to talk to. I just hope I've been as good of a friend to him as he has to me. He would also like you to know that a 500 pound dog is a big dog.
Jon and Melissa Arrington
MAID OF HONOR Jon and Melissa have been married for over a year now and I can honestly say that I was there when it all started. I went to high school with Melissa and I became friends with Jon through Dana's family. He had lived in Titusville and then moved to Tennessee where he is right now. I've been friends with Jon for about 4 years and I just can't help but love the guy. I always have a good time when I'm with him, whether it be on the golf course or drinking Wild Turkey or even watching a bikini contest at Mother Fletcher's in Myrtle Beach, SC. Melissa and Jon met at Dana's house and they fell in love and she moved up to Tennessee and they got married. That's the short version of the story because the long one is far too long.
Chuck is the same age as me and he was my roommate at Florida State University. He is an English major and he is now teaching English at a private school in Tallahassee. He was my roommate for the first two years we were up here. We went to the same elementary, middle, and high schools, but we were never great friends until we got to college. Even though we're not roommates this year, we still get together every once in a while and drink. Although we never have been known to get drunk.* He is a good guitar player and we have been known to stay up late at night and analyze the song American Pie (for a real analysis click on the song) to avoid studying. He has also been known to walk out of Spring mid-terms after 5 minutes or completely miss them. I have complete confidence in him that one of these days, he'll figure out how to calculate his GPA without having me do it for him, and he'll be able to complete a paper in under 63 drafts. Chuck & Alison Glaeser
*I can't remember if this is accurate
Alison is Chuck's girlfriend and she and I have been friends ever since Chuck and I became roommates. She is our age and she also went to high school with us which is where she and Chuck started dating. She also attends Florida State University and she is majoring in interior design which fits her perfect as she is Martha Stewart junior. At times she has been known to help Chuck and I analyze American Pie, for instance did you know that the day the music died was the day Buddy Holly's plane crashed and the name of the plane was the American Pie. If you ever want to get on her bad side, all you have to do is turn left where there's no stop light. She sometimes laughs uncontrollably and really likes going to baseball games or just playing catch. Actually, she's the only person in the world that would make somebody leave a 3 to 2 ballgame in the 8th inning because she was "bored."
