Ally McBeal is without a doubt the strangest show on television, but it is also one of the best. I admire a show that isn't afraid to have their characters say the things that we all wish we could say. The craziness such as the unisex bathroom and the lawyering of John Cage comes as refreshing when everything else on TV is so bland. David E. Kelley is genius.
Late Night with Conan O' Brien is the best talk show on TV. It didn't start off that way, but Conan has developed into a great interviewer. Andy is great as his sidekick and they do the best skits on late night TV. It's worth watching just to see the skits with the president's head on the television.
Dawson's Creek -- Wednesdays at 8:00 on WB
Dawson's Creek is the best adolescent show on TV and kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. It reminds me a lot of 90210 when they were still in high school, you know, about 6 years ago, only the characters are better. I love the cast and I love the fact that the writers aren't afraid to make fun of themselves as another teen show.
Friends -- Thursdays at 8:00 on NBC
Friends is the funniest show on TV. It has the best cast and the best writing. It has found a way to stay fresh for 6 years and it hasn't fallen off one bit. The Chandler/Monica situation has been a barrel of laughs and I just hope this show stays on for many years to come.
ER -- Thursdays at 10:00 on NBC
ER is still a great show, but it's not near as good this year as it has been in year's past. The farewell to George Clooney was dragged out a little too long, and the writers are having problems figuring out where to go from here. They'll get it together again though and return to being a fabulous show.
Law & Order -- Wednesdays at 10:00 on NBC
Law & Order is a show that looks at things from both the police
and lawyers perspective. The thing I like most is that they don't
always win. It's not afraid to look at controversial issues, and
the characters aren't perfect, they all have their own flaws which make
them a lot more believable.
The West Wing -- Wednesdays at 9:00 on NBC
The West Wing is a wonderful show about the white
house. It's main characters are the president and his staff.
It's a gripping show with a lot of plot twists and wonderful supporting
actors and actresses and should be great for years to come.
Six Feet Under -- Sundays at 9:00 on HBO
Six Feet Under is perhaps the most disturbed show
that I have ever watched. It makes you feel really good about your
own life because all of the characters on this show are so screwed up.
It's about the life of a family that owns a funeral home and boy are they
screwed up.
Sex in the City -- Sundays at 9:00 on HBO
Sex in the City is a great comedy show that can
be touching, funny, or raunchy all within about ten minutes. It follows
the lives of four single women in New York and the sexual disfunctions
that define their lives.
Boston Public -- Mondays at 8:00 on FOX
This is a show that takes place in a Boston public
high school and they have dealt with issues from guns to sexual abuse.
It focuses mainly on the teachers and the struggles they go through in
everyday school life.
Undeclared -- Tuesdays at 8:30 on FOX
This show is hilarious and it follows the lives
of several students at college and deals with issues such as long distance
relationships and getting drunk 24-7. It's great.
Crossing Jordan -- Mondays at 10:00 on CBS
This is a show that follows Jordan who a forensics
specialist, but somehow always ends up wanting to solve the actual crime
with her retired cop father. It has great plot twists and the part
when her and her father each take on a roll as either the victim or the
killer to solve the crime, it's really great.
On the Record w/ Bob Costas -- Thursdays at 10:00 on HBO
It's no secret to anyone who knows me that Bob
Costas is my favorite baseball announcer so this show has to be included
in my favorites. It's basically a talk show for sports, but nobody
talks sports like he does.
